Ever wonder how much time gets wasted with idle conversations, aimless Internet surfing, and trying to figure out how to do what it is you’re supposed to do? A survey compiled by Salary.com and AOL revealed that the average American wastes more than two hours a day at work. This costs employers a staggering $759 billion a year. While the time spent surfing the Internet, socializing, and attending to personal business may not cost you billions, it could definitely be affecting your bottom line. Being busy rather than productive is often the result of poor planning and lack of direction. Everybody seems to be doing something but the office is still in a state of chaos or underperforming. How can that be? The truth is that although everyone is super busy, they’re not busy with the things that matter most. So, you get a lot of less than desirable results. This week there are underwriting surprises. Last week it was short staffing issue. And the week before that it was loan closing fires.
